Building Endurance

for a faster recovery

When your loved one is recovering from surgery, injury or illness, their body preserves energy for the healing process. This can leave them feeling weak and tired. As a result, they may have a harder time moving. Unfortunately, when you don’t exercise, you lose tone, body mass and muscle mass. Lack of exercise can cause additional health problems like reduced mobility and quality of life.

Physical and occupational therapy help build strength, endurance and balance to increase your loved one’s function so they can return home safely. At The Arbors, our licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists work with your loved one’s doctor to create a personalized therapy plan for their rehabilitation.

For the return Home

When your loved one returns home after experiencing an injury, illness or surgery, they will likely find everyday activities extraordinarily difficult. Things like making breakfast, doing laundry, taking a shower, and getting in and out of bed can feel almost impossible.

Fortunately, occupational therapy can help those in rehabilitation regain their strength and confidence. At The Arbors, we offer a mock apartment setting to help patients practice everyday activities alongside their therapist. This helps them regain their independence and equips them with the skills they need to return home.
