This month’s staff spotlight shines on vocational nurse, Kathy O’Loughlin. Kathy has worked for The Arbors for over six years. Her position as a charge nurse keeps her busy, but she is always ready to lend a hand whenever the need arises –– from standing in as a hostess in the dining room to answering the phones.
Kathy brings an exceptional level of empathy and compassion to the team at The Arbors. Ever since she was a child, she has always had a passion for taking care of others. She grew up caring for calves, and she transformed that passion of helping others into a career. But it wasn’t easy.
“As a new nurse, finding work was proving difficult,” Kathy says. “And then I walked into The Arbors. Angeline saw my potential and gave me the opportunity to prove my skills and my desire to help people.” Kathy truly enjoys her work and the positive and strong relationship she has with her coworkers.
A born caregiver, Kathy brings her life experiences to the table every day. Her favorite part of her job is her patients and her ability to build strong relationships with them and their families. Kathy understands how challenging it can be to take care of your parent. When she isn’t working at The Arbors, she is helping her husband take care of his aging parents.
Outside of The Arbors, Kathy loves to paint, make quilts, and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and family. Kathy credits her faith in God for steering her into The Arbors and the career she loves. “If it wasn’t for my faith in God, I wouldn’t be here today.”
